We, Danny and Hanjo, met back in 2005. Both of us 15 years old, playing the Dutch Junior Super Series. We have been friends ever since.
We used to be spikes, PTQ grinders, competitive Magic players. But those days are behind us now. Danny is a regular face at PreModern tournaments all across Europe and plays cube with Hanjo. Hanjo only builds and plays cubes these days and organises cube tournaments.
Back in the day we both wrote articles for a Dutch Magic platform and missing those times we wanted to create Magic content together again. Because Hanjo is the optimist he is, he challenged himself to write a love letter for a Magic card every day. Danny the pessimist he is, is going to write a hate letter every now and again.
Hanjo remembers the days where he would visit a blog website everyday to just read the daily blog. He misses those days in this world of social media slug. We will post about our letters on X and Bluesky, not because we want to, but because we acknowledge and accept someone might want to be reminded on their feed.
We write from our heart about the game we love. We don’t write with AI. So yes, sometimes there might be a typo, sometimes our sentences aren’t perfect.
