Dear Ka-Zar of the Savage Land

I am actually not a big fan of Universes Beyond. I grew up loving Magic the Gathering for all it was. And to me, you are not Magic the Gathering. And that is completely fine, I experience Magic through my own lens and Cube lets me do that. I only have to interact with Magic through the Cubes I build and play, so I can just choose to skip Universes Beyond cards if I want to. But with you, I didn’t. 

I played my fair share of Marvel Snap. Both you, Ka-Zar, and Zabu, are represented there. When I played Marvel Snap, one of my favourite decks to play was (pre nerf) Zabu Good Cards, a deck that felt a lot like classic Modern Jund does in Magic. I really enjoyed that deck, so I don’t immediately cringe when I see you guys on a Magic card. But the reason I fell in love with you today is how amazing you fit in my ‘Mich Masters’ Cube. 

Mich Masters is an ode to all the amazing brews my friend Micha-el used to make back when he was still actively playing Magic. And Micha-el was a big Azusa, Lost but Seeking and Meloku, the Clouded Mirror enjoyer. Micha-el was also a big Marvel Snap enjoyer. So I think Micha-el wouldn’t mind seeing you, Ka-Zar, in this Cube where you matchup perfectly with his old loves Azusa and Meloku. I really needed a 5 mana green uncommon card in the Cube, and you fit just right into the lands strategy. I love those moments when doing a Scryfall and it just clicks: a match made in heaven. Even if you are a Universe Beyond card, sometimes that is ok.
