Dear Sphinx Revelation,

<3

Let me tell everyone reading this: you haven’t lived until you’ve cast a Sphinx Revelation for 10 with the help of Calciform Pools. In 2012 at the Modern Grand Prix Lyon this was exactly what I was doing, and I was loving it. It wasn’t the best thing to be doing, but it was by far the most fun thing to be doing. We didn’t make day 2 together, but boy the fun we had.

At first my opponents had to read Calciform Pools. Most of them vaguely remembered the storage lands from their Time Spiral block times, but didn’t believe they were seeing it in Modern. They saw me ticking up that dice on the Pools turn after turn after turn. And then when I went for it, casting you for X=10, they realised they lost. They couldn’t scoop it up yet, because one doesn’t actually lose to you, Sphinx Revelation, you make losing an inevitable event. The type Magic I used to be good at, where winning is a logical result of not losing.

Those days are long past. Both you, Sphinx Revelation, and Calciform Pools are relics of the past. But lucky for us, I found both of you a perfect little home in this Cube I’ve built. The pitch for this Cube is easy: imagine you shuffle the 2 better halves of 2 MTGO Vintage Cubes together and get this awesome overpowered pile of cards. That’s what I did with my second cost reduction emblem Cube, where all cards and abilities cost 2 generic mana less, called ‘OverPowered-2’. And the two of you, Sphinx Revelation and Calciform Pools, are perfect in that Cube. The two of you are perfect together again, at last. For me to enjoy the big game Magic that I love so much.

With love,

Hanjo
