Yesterday I was doing a houseman draft together with my dear friend Frank with my 2009 Power Cube. The pitch of that Cube is simple: any card that was printed before 2010, so 10 fetch lands and Goblin Guide, no Jace the Mindsculptor. I drafted a pretty clean and nice looking blue and white control deck with you, my dear Cryptic Command. 

You have served me so well all these years. I played you in Standard first in UW Pickels, then UB Mannequin and then in Quick and Toast. I honestly think I was just trying every deck that could play you in Standard back in the day. I’ve played you in Extended in UW Sun Titan control, which was my first ever PTQ top 8. I’ve played you in Modern in UW Control, I went out of my way to play 4 copies of you in RUG Scapeshift. In those last 2 always playing you with your buddy Snapcaster Mage. I’ve adored watching you in Previous Level Blue, Shouta RUG and Tezzerator. You are such an icon of our game. 

Yesterday I was playing a very intense game vs my dear friend Frank. He had both Opposition and freshly cast Meloku the Clouded Mirror. I was threatening lethal with my Angels: Baneslayer Angel and Exalted Angel. So they kept Frank busy while I was trying to find a window to win through that Opposition. I cast Future Sight and I was turning through my deck fast. In this final turn that I could actually win against this insane combination of Meloku, the Clouded Mirror with Opposition I was looking for you. Because I had Time Walk in hand, which wasn’t enough on its own because Frank could tap my army twice, so I needed you. It was just like old times, relying on you to win. And for the 14159th time, you came through. You always do.
