Dear Restoration Angel,

You deserve a love letter. I need you to be in this Cube, I have so much love for you. You are one of the most amazing fun cards I’ve ever met. I’ve played you a lot, like a lot, in Modern. UW Angels used to be quite the deck in Modern. Geist of Saint Traft was a very potent Magic card and you were a good way of protecting it from a blocker while applying some real pressure. But I used to be quite stubborn (probably still am), and I never really liked those play patterns. No, I wanted to play you in a way more controlling shell, just abusing your value with a Wall of Omens, Kitchen Finks or Snapcaster Mage. Playing the UW flash game, always keeping my opponent guessing about what was to come. That was my cup of tea. 

Back in the old days Deceiver Exarch with Splinter Twin was one of the main combos in Vintage Cube. Those days are over, playing bad cards for good combos just doesn’t cut it anymore. These days Vintage Cube needs cards that are good on their own, and awesome as a combo. But you, Restoration Angel, were ahead of your time. I liked that combo package the best when combining you with Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker. Because both of you are good cards, even without each other. Just throw a Flametongue Kavu or Fire Imp in there and you guys are fire. 

That is why I love my dear friend Frank his Boomer Cube, an old border Cube. One of the many reasons? Because it plays both you, and Kiki-Jiki. I’ll be honest, I’m still playing you in my Power Cube even without the combo, I just love you way too much. Plus you still hold your own in that environment, you are just that good. But I like you best when you are good on your own, and awesome in a combo.
