You are in one of my 19 cubes. But you play a fantastic role in that cube. You are so out of context in that cube that when drafters read you, they have to read you twice. You offer the same sensation of when you walk past someone in the street and after one second realise you might know that person and have to look twice and think really hard.
I love it when Magic Cards tickle the brain. When you start to wonder, why is this in this cube? Does this work? Did the designer actually design for this? Should I try this? Is this a trap? Or is this a hidden gem? I like to design for those moments in Cube.
You are part of my One Mana Peasant Cube. Only cards that have a mana value of one and that are printed as either a common or uncommon are allowed in that cube. Because everything is so cheap in this cube, players usually only play somewhere between 12-14 lands. Because you usually don’t need to hit 4 lands, let alone 7. Yes, you hear that correctly, 7 lands. That is what you need to transform. In a cube with no top end, with no ramp spells, you need 7 lands to go Super Saiyan. I love how you even tickle my brain just writing about you in that cube. Because even I, as the cube designer, am still not sure if you work in that cube or not.
With love,
Hanjo
